Inheriting the gifts of a musically inclined family, Stephfon began singing at age eight in his hometown Pasadena, California. Influenced by his mother who traveled as a professional dancer and singer, he has developed a style that will have a major impact on the pop and R&B culture.
As a young artist, Stephfon began studying the R&B styles of “Black Street”, “Tank”, “Ne-Yo”, “R. Kelly”, and “Usher”, which inspired him to write his first song entitled: “Not Quite A Man”. Performing in local talent shows in Waynesville and St. Louis, Missouri, he was introduced to Track Boy’s producer, “Joe Kopel,” who produced his first radio single “It’s True” that received major support from local radio stations.
In November of 2007, at the age of eighteen, Stephfon placed eighteenth out of eight hundred in the competition “Ne-Yo Talent Search” in Washington, D.C. Motivated by his achievements, Stephfon set a clear path to enhance his artistic views through song. He reached out to east coast producers, who assisted in the recording of two new songs entitled “Next Level” and “Your Touch”, branding his smooth melodic sound. A year later he ventured back to his hometown of Pasadena and entered into artist competitions, honing in on his stage presence and wowing a skeptical audience. Stephfon placed in the top fifty of “Who Wants to Be Janet Jackson’s Protégée”, also top fifty in Diddy’s “Star Maker”.
On his voyage Stephfon traveled to Charlotte, NC, working with Gone Ape Music group releasing his EP “Sexy Summer”, landing him into the “Pride of the Carolinas” auditions. This propelled him for his first national release, the Pride of The Carolinas Compilation Album on January 24th, 2012. Featuring his debut single titled “THAT GUY,” which hit radio February 2012 gaining 22 stations from NC to NY, at first with modest spins, eventually the record sky rocketed, becoming the most requested song 3 days out the week and up to 300 spins per week. Surely in this success the world is definitely ready to embrace a new rising star. Continuing to perfect his finesse on stage and in recording, Stephfon will leave you with a sense of hope to believe in the passion and sincerity of real love.
