R&B King, Usher Raymond, has released with 7th studio album ‘Looking 4 Myself.’ The much anticipated album was produced by Usher himself and includes collaborations from various big-wig producers like Will.i.am, Pharrell, Diplo and even Swedish House Mafia. Usher graces the cover with his new ‘faux-hawk’ hairstyle and also brings a new sounds to his latest collection of hits.
In addition to R&B and pop beats, there is a heavy electronic influence on the new album. Rihanna, Chris Brown, Jennifer Lopez and many other pop artists have begun to dab in the electronic genre as well. Usher is giving us something new, but it may be more of a trend in the pop industry as a whole, and less of an Usher-revolution.
The album consist of 14 tracks and an additional 4 on the deluxe version. The first single ‘Climax’ was Usher’s 12th number one single on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and became a hit all over the world. ‘Stand Out‘ sounds like the Usher that we know and love with a very catchy and up-beat top-40 sound. ‘Numb‘ and ‘Dive‘ also stand out on the album, where he reminds us of his smooth falsetto voice.
Usher has been on quite a ride, producing hit after hit since releasing his first self-titled album at 16 years old. His fame has only escalated and he has recently been in the spotlight going through a very public divorce. As the album title suggests, it appears that Usher is still on a journey to find himself. One thing is for sure, six albums later Usher Raymond is still on top.
