Having already mastered music and fashion, Jay-Z is now turning his attention to the video game realm. The hip-hop superstar will wear the hat of executive producer for the upcoming NBA 2K13 and has tapped some close music industry friends to be a part of the soundtrack for the hit basketball platform.
According to a statement, Jay, who will be working closely with 2K13 game developers on menus, intro/outro videos, and other functions, has recruited such rhyme legends as Nas (“The World Is Yours”); Kanye West and his G.O.O.D. Music crew (“Mercy”); Eric B & Rakim (“I Ain’t No Joke”); Too $hort (“Blow the Whistle”); and Mobb Deep (“Shook One’s Pt. II”).

The Roc Nation head will also contribute two tracks to the game: “Public Service Announcement” and “On to the Next One.”
“This has been a unique opportunity to collaborate with 2K Sports and be a part of one of the best sports video games in history,” Jay said In a statement.
Jason Argent, 2K Sports V.P. of Marketing told Billboard that having Jay-Z on board goes beyond celebrity cosmetics.
“Jay is completely obsessed with authenticity right off the bat, he said ‘Look, I love this franchise and I love this game, but if you want me to be involved, I need to be truly involved. I want to actually halp make this game.’”
Jay-Z’s connection with NBA 2K13 falls in line with his growing empire. The entertainment mogul serves as a minority owner for his hometown Brooklyn Nets. Check out the complete soundtrack list below. —Keith Murphy, CBS Local
