Before his big show at The Fillmore tonight in Charlotte, NC,  Kendrick Lamar talked with Power 98′s Mr. Incognito about his highly anticipated album along with the hit single “Swimming Pools (Drank).”

His new CD Good Kid, m.A.A.d city is dropping October 22nd of this year.  Lamar says his CD is “hip hop at its finest…I want to come in at the perfect time when I think everyone thinks that the actual essence of lyrics can’t survive anymore.”

The album name comes from “the lifestyle of living in the city” and growing up in Los Angeles, but represents a “full generation of misled kids” says Kendrick.

The first single off of his album called “Swimming Pools (Drank)” focuses on his experience of being in a household with a lot of alcohol around, which included many house parties.  Through his song, he wants to try and advice fans that “you can be a drunk, or you can drink casually.”

He worked with Dr. Dre along with a lot of in-house artists and producers from the West Side.  Lamar, however, didn’t comment about when Dr. Dre will ever drop the “Detox” album.  “When he feels its time, then its time,” says Dr. Dre.

Watch the full interview including Kendrick remarking on Nicki Minaj’s freestyle about voting for Mitt Romney.  And be sure to get Kendrick Lamar’s new album Good Kid, m.A.A.d city on October 22nd.
