Listen To “Fly Me Away” here:
Born and raised in Buffalo, NY, Dee Dray’s knack for beats began as a three-year old and at the age of 8 he began playing in church. His musical talents later earned him a spot at the Buffalo Academy for the Visual and Performing Arts where he majored in vocal and instrumental music. At Performing Arts, Dee began learning how to play the guitar and the piano. It was at Performing Arts where he began to become more of a serious performer and writer. He was a cast member in several school plays, talent shows, operas with the Buffalo Philharmonic and performing with musical legends Dave Brubeck and Kenny Rodgers. Although Dee has always loved music, it wasn’t until his junior year in high school that his flair for writing and delivering hip-hop lyrics really began. A Johnson C. Smith Alumni, he has been residing in Charlotte, NC since.
Dee Dray is a retired champion of the Freestyle Friday competition presented on “The No Limit Larry & The Morning Madhouse Show” which airs on Charlotte’s number one hip-hop and R&B station, WPEG-FM Power 98where he performed under his former stage name “The Kid IsReal”. Dee has also opened up for such acts as: R&B sensation Lloyd, Nipsey Hussle, Future, 2 Chainz, Keith Murray and several others. In addition to all of this, Dee can currently be found hosting various events; often with his DJ, DJ C-Rob.
