Before she fearlessly led a team of “Gladiators in Suits,” Kerry Washington thrilled us on the big screen in feature films.

A celebrated film star, Washington shot out of the stratosphere with her role on the crazy-sexy-good hit show Scandal.

As the highly anticipated season premiere of this Shondaland creation looms near, fans of the show (like myself) are finding the wait excruciating!

So, fellow Gladiators to tide us over until Olivia Pope once again sashays down the halls of the justice—or should I say relative justice—here are 10 awesome films starring Scandal lead actress, Kerry Washington, that you can watch!

‘Ray’

Washington received critical acclaim alongside Jamie Foxx as his wife in the 2004 biopic, Ray.

‘Night Catches Us’

In this underrated indie flick, Washington performs alongside frequent collaborator, Anthony Mackie as two former Black Panthers finding their way in the late 70s.

‘Lakeview Terrace’

In this thriller, Washington is one half of an inter-racial married couple being tormented by a deranged neighbor, played by Samuel L. Jackson.

‘The Last King of Scotland’

Kerry Washington, Forest Whitaker, and James McAvoy transport audiences to 1970s Uganda under dictatorship of Idi Amin.

‘The United States of Leland’

Washington has a supporting role in this 2003 indie alongside Hollywood heavy weights Ryan Gosling, Don Cheadle, and Kevin Spacey.

‘Our Song’

Washington’s first feature film, Our Song, follows three friends as they deal with life, love, responsibility, and their pending futures.

‘Django Unchained’

Washington once again played the wife of Jamie Foxx in this 2012 western, written and directed by Quentin Tarantino.

‘Fantastic Four’

Before becoming a Gladiator, Washington aligned herself with another group of super-heroes in the Fantastic Four. Washington plays blind sculptor, Alicia Masters.

‘For Colored Girls’

Washington joined an ensemble cast including Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad, Janet Jackson, Loretta Devine, Thandie Newton, Anika Noni Rose, and Kimberly Elise for the film adaptation of For Colored Girls

‘I Think I Love My Wife’

Washington played the role of a seductive temptress in this 2007 romantic comedy starring Chris Rock.
