Kid Ink Talks About Releasing ‘My Own Lane’ Tomorrow
Kid Ink called in tonight to talk about his debut album ‘My Own Lane’ set to drop in a few hours (January 7th). The new project’s hype has been fueled by Ink’s #1 single “Show Me,” featuring Chris Brown that has already sold over 400 Thousand copies-as a single. Kid talked about how fans have been supporting the new album with pre-orders already surpassing 15 thousand copies before his big release.
He talked about the overseas success he’s been seeing lately saying “I just had a tour out there in Europe, and half the shows were in Germany. Right now, the album actually came out on the 3rd in Germany, so it’s been #1 since last Thursday. It’s crazy that they rock with me so hard, and I’m only out there once a year.”
Kid Ink explained why he did a special deluxe edition for Best Buy saying “It was a certain amount of records you only get when you do a major label album-compared to the independent. And I felt like it was just some records that had to get cut off, but I felt like didn’t need to get cut off.. And, you know.. fighting for putting some more records on there and we came up with the deluxe edition for the hard copies to where people are really getting a full package now when you go out and get those hard copy CDs compared to just the itunes.”
Other than Chris Brown’s appearance on “Show Me,” ‘My Own Lane’ also contains features from Tyga, Wale, Meek Mill, Pusha-T, A$AP Ferg, MGK, and Elle Varner.
You can hear what his favorite collaboration on the album is, as well as the next possible single, his clothing line, Shazzam calling him the “Artist to watch in 2014,” as well as what makes this release more special than his previous EP & mix tape releases in the entire interview here.
